Experience the Magic of Carnaval in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic
Fabio La Rosa is a Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic-based business leader with over a decade of experience in the real estate sector. As the founder of Grupo Noval, Fabio La Rosa guides the construction of commercial properties, custom vacation homes, and beachfront condos in the popular tourist destination of Punta Cana.
Carnaval is one of the most widely celebrated festivals in the world, but the individual iterations of the celebration are incredibly unique. While many associate the annual springtime revelry with Brazil, a number of South American and Caribbean nations also recognize Carnaval. These nations include the Dominican Republic.
The history of Carnaval in the Dominican Republic dates back to the middle of the 1500s, and the regional celebration shares a number of similarities with pre-Lenten celebrations held in communities around the world. Each year, the varying regions of the Dominican Republic celebrate Carnaval over a series of weekends in February and early March. Each Sunday, residents and visitors gather to watch eclectic parades featuring music, dancing, and vibrant costumes. The celebrations reach a climax on February 27, which is Dominican Independence Day.
Dominican Carnaval parades often blend elements of African, European, and Taíno Indian cultures and feature music in the styles of bachata, merengue, and salsa. Participants dress as fictional characters that have become synonymous with the Carnaval season. These fabled figures include the mischievous Diablo Cojuelo, a masked devil who surprises revelers by swatting them with balloons or vejigas.

What to Consider When Purchasing Real Estate in Punta Cana
A graduate of the London School of Economics, Fabio La Rosa is the owner and CEO of Grupo Noval, a real estate project development company focused on the market of Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. Since 2003, Fabio La Rosa has grown the company from a small business into a major construction company responsible for the creation of over 500 units within Punta Cana’s Cocotal Golf & Country Club community.
For those who are looking to invest in Punta Cana real estate, make sure to consider the following aspects of a villa, condo, or apartment before deciding to buy.
1. Are the design and structural integrity of the home up to standards? Look into the qualifications of the company that built the residence. Make sure the firm employs engineers, architects, and administrators with adequate experience and had used quality materials in the building process. It can also be helpful to make sure that all structural calculations are made based on the USA Code Requirements.
2. Are there luxury amenities and leisure activities nearby? There are many beautiful areas of Punta Cana, but homes within neighborhoods surrounding golf courses like the Cocotal Golf & Country Club have something extra to offer. Residences in this area provide homeowners with 24-hour security, membership to a private beach club, and proximity to a golf course designed by the six-time Spanish golf champion Jose “Pepe” Gancedo.
3. How close is this property to the ocean? One of the best things about living in Punta Cana is unfettered access to beaches on both the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea. How far the journey from one’s residence to the water is depends entirely on the homebuyer and should be a factor when determining which real estate property to purchase.

Alessandro Del Piero – Legendary Player for Juventus Football Club
Fabio La Rosa of Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic owns and manages Grupo Noval, a real estate development company, and Senda, a home-furnishings retailer and furniture importer. In his free time, Fabio La Rosa enjoys following Juventus Football Club of Turin, Italy.
Over the storied history of Juventus Football Club, few if any players have stood out like Alessandro Del Piero. In close to 20 years with the club, he tallied more appearances and goals than any player ever to wear the black-and-white-striped uniform. Beyond his personal accomplishments, “Pinturicchio” led Juventus to six league championships and four appearances in Champions League finals, winning once in 1996. Also successful on the international level, he was a member of the Italian team that prevailed in the 2006 World Cup.
Born in Conegliano, Italy, in 1974, Del Piero began his professional career on the under-19 squad of Padova, another Italian club. After rising to the first team, he was acquired in 1993 by Juventus. There, he began a legendary career and became what many experts call the greatest Juventus player of all time and also one of the best attacking midfielders and playmakers in the history of the sport.

Popular Local Cuisines of the Dominican Republic
As the owner and CEO of Grupo Noval, Fabio La Rosa guides a firm that offers resort living development and property management services across the Dominican Republic’s sun-kissed Punta Cana coast. With the region attracting an increasing number of retirees from throughout the world, Fabio La Rosa’s firm focuses on comfortable living in a family friendly coastal environment that embodies the best of Caribbean food culture.
Similar to Cuba and Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic cuisine combines Spanish, African, and Taino indigenous influences and centers around items such as rice and beans, and sancocho, a hearty meat stew that includes vegetables and plantains. One unique plantain dish is mangu, or plantain mash, which is typically served alongside fried cheese, eggs, and the local version of salami for breakfast.
Plantains also make an appearance as fried tostones, with the unripe version of the fruit cooked to create a perfect accompaniment to seafood and meat. Crispy in texture, the flattened, twice-fried plantains take the place of French fries for many in the Dominican Republic. Other local favorites include pollo guisado, which features chicken that is braised until it nearly falls off the bone.

Dominican Republic’s Cacao Growing Traditions
As head of Grupo Noval, Fabio La Rosa has developed thousands of apartments and luxury villas in premier coastal areas of the Dominican Republic, including Bávaro and Punta Cana. Attracting an international clientele for Noval properties, Fabio La Rosa’s efforts provide a vital contribution to an economy traditionally known for products such as chocolate and coffee.
A Serious Eats article brought focus to the culinary cocoa traditions in the Dominican Republic, which do not center on highly refined chocolates that require extensive refrigeration and air conditioning to properly store. Instead, cocoa consumption is primarily as a beverage, with the cocoa beans either fermented or left unfermented prior to drying and roasting.
After a coarse grinding process, sugar and flavorings such as pepper and vanilla are added and the ground cocoa is molded into various shapes for retail sale. The cocoa in Dominican Republic is traditionally light in consistency and sweetened, with cinnamon added as well.
